Little crack starting on uke bass

I gig with the little beast almost weekly along with my full scale basses.
Anyway I noticed this today. It’s on the bottom end.
Little concerned.
I was going to take it to my luthier this week to assess but wanted some feedback here.
I can feel it with my nail.

Doesn’t seem to be more than a crack in the finish. I unscrewed the black plate and the crack starts at the screw hole. I just didn’t want it to possibly spread down to the binding…well, I guess if it did the crack would perhaps stop there.

Its from that screw. It can be repaired. It might be under warranty? You can repair it from a backyard job to a pro repair and finish. Depends on how you want it to look in the end. Finish fix or not.

98% chance the underlying wood is laminated (plywood) and cannot crack from just hanging out in the world. Nothing bad is going to happen.

It’s a finish crack. Likely poly finish which is hard to fix without leaving a noticeable repair, especially with a light color.

Looks to me like it goes past the finish and into underlying wood. Not that unusual for acoustic instrument. Guitars crack usually in front as pickgurd off gasses or wood dries out. It's not hard to fix this, any good luthier would be able to handle it. I agree about the poly finish though, those are tough to make perfect again.

I purchased the bass in December from Sweetwater so it’s still under warranty. I might contact my sales guy to see what he says.
I played it a bit earlier and looks like the crack traveled just a hair.
If it’s just cosmetic I’m fine with that but will visit my luthier this week just to see what he says.

I'd go straight to your Sweetwater rep. They will probably replace the bass.

I contacted my sales rep at Sweetwater. He submitted the issue and pics to the warranty department. They are sending me a new uke bass along with a return shipping label with the new bass. The nice thing is, I can check out the new one and see if it compares to the one I currently have which looks plays and sounds great, other than the crack.

Yes, they stand by their products. The only reason I ever buy from GC is if I want local support, like with my Rumble100.
