I just joined today and this is my first post so my apologies if this topic has been discussed.
I have been playing for over 25 years and have top quality equipment. Have always liked the sound of wood and string so have never used any kind of effect racks or gimmicks.
Since I am now doing so many styles and have seen in the studio what subtle compression can do (very few know how to apply properly) I looking at perhaps finally getting my first Effect Rack/Pedal/Etc.
I cursory look in the local music store reveals a vast amount of choices ranging from $50 to $1000. As with most electronic digital equipment these days will probably only ever utilize less than 10% of it's potential!
In case it makes a difference I have a Warwick Thumb Bass and Eden Amplification.
