Double Bass Live/Recording Mic

So mostly Im looking for something that I can use for recording and live without spending tons of cash. 300 bucks max. Also if its possible is there something that sounds good for an acoustic bass and an acoustic guitar? This isnt so important but if there is something with the range to do both that would be awesome.

Also how is everyone mixing a mic and pickup live? I need to be able to mix both to an amp because lucky for me most places I play around here are just big enough to not be able to go acoustic and just cheap enough that they dont have house systems or sound people.

The Shure SM81 would seem to fit the requirement. It's known for flat response and for capturing acoustic guitar very faithfully and should work in the studio and on stage. I'm thinking of getting one myself but haven't yet pulled the trigger.

To mix a pickup and a mic, I have a D-TAR Solstice.

I also just picked up an Acoustic Image Focus 2R Series III which has the same core "blending" capabilities already built-in, but not quite as many options for output routings and phase reversal.

I just bought a Heil PR-40 and its been very great so far. It captures my bass sound very, very well. It lists for $325. They make a PR-30 with slightly less bandwidth range for about $250. All the research I did on these mics suggest that they are at the top of their class. Another thing worth noting is that they don't need phantom power.

What kind of recording? By yourself, with a drummer, studio, live, etc?

That will have a big impact on mic selection.
