Local Band Discovers They Don't Need A Bass Player

Watch Video Here

That's a Fender Bass VI (really cool bass- 6 strings tuned E to E... any fender employees surfing this forum? Please do a reissue of this bass!) the guitarist is simultaneously playing! Anyway, I love the guys playing in this video, a couple of the most talented, hardworking guys I know, very nice dudes too. Plus they have the coolest band name in the world.

Savoy Brown did that for a while in 1970.

Damn, expensive! Thanks for the link! I'll hold out for a Squire Classic Vibe Series one I think... Here's hoping anyway!

Or you can get the 2012 Schecter Hellcat VI (about $600) which has just about all the benefits of the Fender Bass VI except a tremolo - and the price.

The band The Presidents of the United States of America is another band off the top of my head that comes to mind where their "bassist" (who is also the lead singer) does not play an actual bass guitar, but a I believe Gibson SG guitar that is tuned down low to act as a bass. He might only have four strings on it too, I cannot remember exactly how he does it.

If I remember correctly, he only had like two strings on it.

Also, he released a bluegrass album a few years ago.

About 10th years or so ago the NYC band called Candiria played without a bass player for a few years. They were a very talented group of guys and I have no idea as to why they didn't have one, but they eventually did add a bass player and they were even better.... Wonder why?
