You would think that with todays technology, GC would invest in something to stop or deter theft. If they can put those plastic tags on/in the guitars/basses like they do in dept stores on jackets, slacks etc with a detector at the door, that might help wake up the kiddies when someone walks out with something. It is older technology. reusable, and not too expensive. But its GC, who really gives a crap anyway.

My GC used to have a person at the door checking everything that came in for returns and everything that left but now with cutbacks that person is gone.
I haven't seen a greeter/door checker in my local GC for a long time.
I wonder if the money they save on wages for that employee is greater than the amount of theft they experience.

When I bought my used Ric from there I walked out without anyone asking any questions. The dude did come out when I was already in my car so I could sign some paper.

I seem to remember threads here where people were #$%&*% that GC had people checking them at the door and "treating them like criminals".

My GC has made staff cuts. There are no more checkers at the door and often it appears nobody is around. This happens in all retail everyday. It's amazing how bold some thieves are.
Good for that guy. Guitar Center needs to die already. I'm sick of seeing their carcasses propped up everywhere. They can't afford to even have a Door Guy position at any store anymore.

Yeah the greeters are all gone now but for a few shops. SoCal has has many a les Paul stolen from GC recently
Last time I was in a GC, it reminded me of being in a Blockbuster in the last few months before they went belly up. Its sad because of all the mom and pop shops they put out of business and once they go belly up too, most of us will have to rely on the net for most of our bass needs.
