Locality Band Names

*Original* Pantera band members grew up on border of Arlington/Pantego/Dal Worthington Gardens (Dallas TX suburbs) and used "Pantego" as a starting point for the band name. Or so goes the story from locals. Well loved in DFW. "Dal Worthington Death Gardens" doesn't have the same ring as Pantera....
.
Especially considering that Dalworthington Gardens (two words not three) is multi-million dollar houses on acreage.

Do these lads count?

In LA, there has been the Young Dubliners, run by some Irish ex-pats, and features an acquaintance of mine, Chas Waltz, on violin…

I got to hang out with The Young Dubliners at a few Irish festivals when was doing the folk band thing. They were a lot of fun., Brendan, the bass player, played a Music Man that got stolen, which was a bummer. Great band!

There was a band called Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland, in the 80s. They always said they chose the name because Cowdenbeath wouldn't fit on the jackets.

There was another band in Glasgow around the same time called Vancouver. Not that that made any sense. Their bass player was also a sound guy.

More famous Scottish band: Nazareth

More Scottish, teen idols from the 70s The Bay City Rollers -- that's a reference to Edinburgh.
