Yup. The recording engineer used a U87 for my bass tracks on a “live” recording we are working on.

did not expect it but he said it was his first thought and it sounded great through the monitors after our session.

Neumann U87"s are wonderfully detailed microphones they capture all the nuances Double Bass. I've been lucky enough to use one several times on different projects.

Their frequency response is so wide that I'm always amazed what the playback sounds like in the studio and always a little sad after things are EQ'ed into the final mix. :)

yeah...the raw tracks of my bass sounded so full...i wonder how it'll mix down in the end.

luckily being the bass player in a fiddle band, i'm the only one taking up that sonic space in the low end without drums.

our engineer said he likes to have a full bass sound so i hoping it'll come through as great as the raw tracks did.
