Looking for a 5 String. Mid range but which one?

Hi,

i am in the UK, looking for a well priced 5 string that i can use as a backup on gigs. Playing mainly funk and soul i want something that slaps easy but also has a fat bottom when needed.

Currently looking at some mid priced Yamahas and MIM Fender Jazzes. What can you recommend? Do you know anyone who has one for sale?

I have a Lakland 55-01 up for sale, sunburst with rosewood fingerboard. I have had it for 2 years but it is in near mint condition.

I don't really play fivers. However, I have been meaning to get one in the future. After trying a bunch out and understanding my own budget restrictions, for me the best fit will be an Ibanez SR505.

Awesome sounding, mid-priced bass. It definetly has the fat bottom, however i don't really slap, so i can not comment on it. In any case i would suggest looking into one!

I have been using a Schecter Studio 5 and I am extremely happy with it.

You might be able to find a used Lakland 55-02 for around $800, its a funk and soul machine, solid low B, very versatile. 19 mm spacing for easy slappage.



He's playing the American 55-94, but they have the same preamp.

I have 3 Schecters. I love them.. They are always the first brand I check out when I need something new.
