I am looking to buy a 5 string. Currently I am looking at:

New Ibanez SR 1405 DOF
Used Spector Euro 5
Used Dingwall Combustion
New Schecter Stiletto Session 5

I already own a higher end Ibanez and really love it. The nordstrand pickups really intrigue me. However, I have wanted a Spector Euro for the longest time. The Schecter Session seems like a good combination of wood and electronics for less, so I am considering it. I can adjust easily to different neck sizes. I am more concerned with sound versatility, build quality, etc.

I just received an Ibanez SR1405E and I have to say, this is one of the best basses I have played to date. Smooth, thin neck. Tight string spacing (if you like that), Nordstrand Big Singles (Fantastic Sound), Gotoh Tuners, it looks great, and it weighs in at just over 8 pounds. The pre can go, not happy with it, but there is a switch to turn it off, and I dial in my amp from there.

Ibanez doesn't get the love because it's not a boutique or bass only brand, but they are making some great instruments. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.
