+1 for Audacity.
You can't completely remove the bass from any stereo recording but you can use the eq to try and locate and drop the frequency range of the bass.
One of my biggest complaints with Audacity is that you can only set the effect (tempo, amplify, normalize, eq, etc.) and listen to a SHORT sample of it before converting either that section or the entire track.
However, it works great as a bass trainer for slowing down track without changing the pitch and using the eq to pull the bass out of the mix. Very helpful in learning difficult passages.
