Looking for a custom P-Bass neck. Any suggestions?

HI! Looking for a custom P-Bass neck and running into a hard time. I'm wanting it made out of a hard ash and maple fretboard. I've seen a few high end shops offering this on theirs and I want it with a precision bass. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great!!!

I am just curious why would you want an ash neck, I have used ash a fair bit for furniture and a bass that I am finishing and find it inconsistent, it can be a bit difficult to get it to take finish in my experience, don't get me wrong I like it a lot but I would go for a maple like birds eye for example over ash.

Completely custom (bespoke) guitar parts are not necessarily easy to come by, unless you have a relationship with a builder. A well-known builder of custom parts is Dan Ransom, in San Francisco: Invalid Link Removed There are more I'm sure, but might be worth checking out areas local to you. Also, probably worth mentioning that a completely custom neck will probably start in the neighbourhood of about $350.00 USD and go up from there.

I see no structural reason to choose ash over maple, and maple is a much smoother wood. WHY do you want ash?

Bit late to this thread but you might try contacting Freestone (formerly Hilimire). They have a custom neck form here:

They don't list Ash as an option but that could just be because it isn't common.

I have no connection to them other than I purchased a P-bass neck from there and it was well made and reasonably priced.

From a different point of view....I've built a bunch of Ash necks and I'm not alone in this. Most of the figures like stiffness, Janka and average dried weight are all very similar to Maple. But it does require some extra finishing time due to the pores.

So there's no reason not to go for an Ash neck if you don't mind extra finishing time or you like an open pored finish like people do on Wenge.
