Looking for a good rack mount class D power amp

I have an Aguilar DB 659 tube preamp that I love, but I’d like to upgrade from my Mackie 1400i power amp (mostly to reduce weight). My cab is an Eden D410XLT 8ohms, which is rated at 700 watts, so I’m looking for an amp that can at least pump 1000 watts at 8 Ohms mono bridged. I play mostly hard rock on a USA G&L L-2500 5string. I’m not that familiar with the Class D amp world as far as who the quality manufacturers are. Any suggestions?

Lot of good choices. I'd recommend either Crest Prolite or Peavey IPR. Hard to beat the Peavey when you factor in power, build quality, weight, for the price.

So I don't see any specs that say it can be run in a mono bridged mode? Or if so, the wattage rating at 8 ohms. How are you running yours?

Crown 1502 fits the bill. I enjoy mine.

I have the Crest ProLite 3.0. It is powerful. Mainly you have to exercise caution with your drivers.

I have a Behringer iNuke. Cheap, clean and loud. You could get one of the amps from Behringer's new NX series and report back to us.

I don't believe it can be run in mono bridged mode. I'm using a GED-2112 preamp which has dual channel outputs - each feeding a channel on the IPR, and then driving separate cabinets with each.

The peavey can be run bridged mono. You just make a speaker cable that has two speakons kn one end, with the leads both connected to the 1+ lugs.

The IPRs are great amps. The Crest ProLite are basically the IPRs with a few enhancements. Well... not basically. They are exactly that.

The inukes are cheap and they work. They dont sou d bas unless you put them on subwoofer duty in a heavy EDM DJ's system. They do fine, otherwise. Oh, and they dont put out what they are rated for. INuke 3000 puts out a little under 1000/ch st 4ohms, and will not stand for 2 ohms for very long (rated for 1500/ch st 2 ohms).

You can also snag an older DriveCore 1000 or 1500 on-the-cheap. Doesn't have the refinements of the "02" series but I'm seeing them used for a buck and a quarter.

I had the previous series too, and they were equally good. The only practical difference I can think of is the HPF on the newer models.

Good point...that and the sensitivity option although the 1.4 always worked for me. The 00's lowest HPF frequency is 50 hz which is a bit too high for some ported cab tunings. I went off-board with a Broughton HPF / LPF.
