Looking for a high end bass....

I have to add though, I've owned Sadowskys, Spectors, Foderas, Warwicks, Modulus, Valenti, Fender, Alleva-Coppolo, and tons of others.
One thing you didn't mention though (unless I missed it) is you budget.
I would scope the used market myself.
Everything everone has mentioned are super fine basses.
Take you're time and play EVERYthing.
I just "re-discovered" these old Yamaha's, they may not work for you one bit at all, but again, play what you like, like what you play.
Your hands and ears will really tell you what is right.
But also check out G&L L2500/L2000.
Killer for grind and cut.
