Looking for a luthier to build me a project.

I am going on deployment in less than a week and I am looking for a builder to build me an instrument.
Here is my idea.

An 8 string bass/guitar, kind of like Charlie Hunters, with fanned fret and short scale. I know it can be done and was planning on doing it myself but I'll be way to busy. I'd like it to be chambered, singlecut design, I have the design I made myself so if anyone is looking for a project please help me out. PM me about pricing and other stuff please. I'd love for it to be midi as well, if available and within my means.

I know that most will probably consider it but I'd really like to come back and able to pick this up. If there is anyone near the area of California or surrounding states, that's great, if not I can travel to you. I'd like to keep it within the US though. We can talk more later once I get a connection.

Hope this is received well.

Just FYI - it is against the board policy to reply within the thread.

It is perfectly fine if luthiers wish to reply to the OP via PM.

Yup, that's right. As long as they aren't schilling for anyone, other users can chime in with suggestions on luthiers you could/should contact. Any/all discussion between you and a luthier who may build you a bass should be done via PM.

Best of luck both with this and on your deployment,

Paul

Can I post a design, perhaps this could help get more bites as well?

Not a problem. The Commercial User Policy (CUP) primarily puts limits on commercial users (music business owners, those who build for profit, etc.). You are welcome to look for help in getting a bass build, looking for a luthier to build it, and to post design ideas. Any and all replies by builders as far as doing the work for you and anything involved in that, even builders who "might" do it, should be sent via PM or email. An exception to that would be that the builder is free to create a thread in the Luthier's Corner that documents the build process of your bass for educational purposes.

Guys, can anything of builders who you know of that have built basses similar to ninefingerbass's design idea?

Holy crap...let's try that again: Guys, can any of you suggest a builder who has done work similar to what ninefingerbass is looking for?

Say WHAT?

Once again folks, if you are a builder you are not allowed to contact the original poster via this thread (i.e. in public). Do so through email or PM. You are not allowed to shill for a builder, and you are not allowed to shill for yourself (something I consider SPAM).

I'm bringing this up because I just had to delete a post in this thread which specifically violated the CUP and my directions. Please don't do that.

Here are the pics of the design I came up with. The first one is what I am going to decide on using the body shape as.

The second one is just another idea. I haven't decided on a headstock design but working on it.

What do you think.

There's a couple hot designs you have started there man! I like them both, particularly the second one (one on the right). I would imagine you'll find someone interested in bringing those designs to life!
