I hadn't seen that - but in a way am glad - any discussion with you guys that results in me learning something is a good discussion.

BTW - bought the AKG D5's based on a discussion recently and ha an opportunity to try them out for the first time with Chris Duarte. They were absolutely fine. Have used them 8-9 more times since and they are good mics. Thursday - Albert Castiglia will be using them - so lets see if the track record maintains.

we have a whole day of female performers coming up soon - I can't wait to see how they do for that one.

I've sang through a lot of microphones, and while I'm not a woman, my e935 has been my favorite for playing rock in a bar.

She loves the mic by the way.. I was concerned because it didn't have an on/off switch but it doesn't feed back .. or it hasn't yet.. I guess all mics will feed back if you push them to it.

Get a 58 and be done with it. Their almost indestructible. If she doesn't sound good singing through a 58, nothing else will help. If that's the case, it's the Indian, not the bow and arrow.

While the Shure SM58 may be the industry standard, I have found them to have low output and mic channel gains need to be boosted sometimes inducing feedback (depending on your bands stage volume). I would look for a higher output pro mic. There are quite a few in the same price range. I like AKG and Sennheiser mics.

Hmmm ... in 35 years of using SM58s I've never had that issue. Proper monitor placement can alleviate feedback issues in most cases. As for the OP, I'd suggest a Beta 58, but the others' advice to go try some out is solid. If you're going to buy a Shure mic, Northern Sound and Light is where you'll find the absolute lowest price. You have to call them on the phone to get the price. They'll be way below MAP.

Good choice. A helpful hint: Never buy a mic with a switch. It will cause you more headaches than it's worth.

Simply because Sod's Law dictates that when the mic needs to be live, it will be off.

From what I've tried, the Sennheiser 935 may be the best compromise between fidelity and rejection of unwanted sound (band, monitors, room). The Heil PR35 has a number of strong fans. If the stage noise is reasonable, better sounding mics such as the AT AE5400, Audix VX10, and Neuman KMS105 may work well.
