Another cab will probably fix the distortion problem but it sounds like you might be a jazz bass guy .

HA! I was JUST going to post this and I saw u beat me to it,

u should play around with one,maybe a rosewood/alder jazz..
also consider a Jazz with a modern preamp, Aguilar,Sadowsky..

maybe try not to depend on your cabinet too much live, if possible.
ask the engineer to put more bass through your monitor, if u have one near..and turn down a bit,

How are the lows on the Uber115? Is this a deep chest thumping 15"?

Best 1 x 15 I've heard was the Accugroove Tri 115. Smooth, deep, polite, loud. Heard Damien Erskine using that cab with an Alembic F1x pre... Sounded really, really good. Probably the best non- fearful cab 1x15 I've ever heard... Not cheap though...

That's also my experience with Accugroove Tri115. Very polite.

If actually sounds like the OP is describing a Thunderchild 115. Sadly only used available, at 4 ohms they are perfect with a LMII. Lucky for me I got a 33lb composite from the TB classifieds.

I use either One or Two Genz Benz Uber115s... They do rock, pop, RnB, Funk or country.. Tweeter is at about 4k so if you dia it up it sound sweet and not ganky at all.. .. Great cabs love them..

I sure love the Mesa Powerhouse 115. They are really well made and have a very smooth tone without the honk of some 115 cabs. The horn is very sweet and can really add a nice sheen if desired but isn't harsh or brittle.

Quality answer. The build quality is world class. The ability to change the crossover frequency and level of the horn is nice too.
