My opinion: all Underwood's generics are passe, if looking for realy acoustic sound - not a fretless like - than go for David Gage's REALIST (see the references). Works both for recording and amping. For amping some equalisation might be required because the pickup is placed between the bridge and the body. My favourite attenuated frequencie is nearly 120 Hz.

The problem I have with the Realist is that it is unnaturally boomy. Sort of like a mic on the f-hole. The Fishman Full Circle has a similar sound quality but less boom, like a mic placed near the bridge. Between the Realist and the Full Circle I think its just a preference thing, both are good for recording, dont nessesarily need a preamp, and have great tone quality.
