Looking for a passive aggressive P/J set.

Excuse the fairly weak riffing but here's a clip of the EMG Geezers. Rotosound 66 stainless steel rounds. A neck with little relief and very low action. Played with fingers. Hope this helps.

Yeah, everything wide open, which is usually how I play.
I actually just parted out the bass to fund another project, however I'm a huge fan of the spb-1 from Seymour duncan
Can't go wrong with Duncs. But I do love these GZRs....which I think are basically Duncs with an EMG cover. LOL.
The last time I used Lace pickups, which concededly was almost two decades ago, I perceived them as being a little bit overcompressed, and so did many others. Has Lace addressed this perception?
Never heard that, but 'compressed' is the last word I'd use to describe the Man O' Wars. Huge, clear, and open would be better descriptors. I've never used the older Lace pickups though.
Will Powers are good for what you're describing too. Very high output, driven, grindy tone, but it's got an even fatter low end than the Model P. Model P is where it's at in this situation I think.
I didn't like the Split P very much. Too clean and modern hi-fi for what I was after at the time.
Area P is pretty "traditional" sounding, if perhaps a bit bland. I'm not overly impressed with it, but I don't hate it.

It's a P/J with a DiMarzio Split Model J Bridge and a Seymour Duncan 113.398 grams P in the neck (I use metric, darn it!). The reason behind it is that every P I played that I loved happened to have a SDQP P, so I guessed that was the way to go. For the bridge, I just wanted to buck the hum but I don't like stacked J that much and I loathe Fender Noisless! I read good things about DiMarzios, so I went that route. Plus, both were dirty cheap! I had to get some cream covers from Harry Häussel though, because black was not going to cut it.
I'll post crappy cell phone pics and subpar out of time riffing when it's done.
