Looking for a pedal that does the sweetest mid bump.

Right now, I have a love/hate relationship with a Southampton Ictineo.
I simply am unable to grasp what the controls do and often end up just using its ability to bump around 600Hz. My sound is quite scooped and I like the possibility to push some 'P-Bass Thump' when needed.

Now I'd like to look at other pedals that can give me that. Suggestions?

OneControl Sonic Silver Peg or Blue 360 AIAB. I think the Peg’s mid is @800 and the 360 is @600, but regardless they can both boost the mids in a pleasing way to my ear.

I just wrote in a private conversation about the Submarine:

If asked to summarize what I get from the manual, I'd answer: Every knob influences every other knob and every switch changes the way in which the knobs influence each other. Toy around and use your ears. You'll get it.

However, I don't.

In that case, whatever replaces your Ictineo should have controls whose function is discrete, not interdependent.

If you have no other sonic criteria for the pedal, a parametric equalizer should let you "bump around 600Hz" with specificity, including more control of the definition of the bump (slope and Q) without affecting anything else in the spectrum.

Okay, here are critera:

It must fit into an Ictineo shaped footprint. If it is as large as the icitineo, it must have top jacks.
The hole it needs to drop in is Ictineo sized and cannot be any bigger.

I'd prefer boutique stuff to match the general theme of my board.

Are you looking for a pre with mid controls or just a para EQ with mid controls? There’s also the EWS Bass Mid Control with is only a sweepable mid band with a boost/cut that’s a tiny little guy which you can use along with your Ictineo if you scootch thing around a bit on your board

It does not matter if it has a single knob or five. It could be a preamp or a Fuzz with the gain all the way off or a comp with the ratio set to 1:1. As long as my flat signal goes in one end and comes out mid bumped the other, it's fine ...

While I was able to get some great sounds out of the Ictineo, I eventually sold it for basically this reason. If you play around with it enough you can usually find what you're looking for, but forget about trying to adjust it on the fly mid-song on a dark stage, and heaven forbid your settings get bumped in transit to the gig. It's not intuitive enough (ie. idiot proof) for what I typically prefer.

Broughton SVPre maybe? Or did you mention in the other thread that you don't like Ampeg tone stacks?
I'm sure there must be some sort of parametric midrange EQ pedal out there...

I don't like the typical Ampeg sound.
I loved the mids on my PF-20 T and I did not love the mids on my PF-50 T (and every other typical Ampeg thing).

Plus on the SA EQ2. I play my Lambe/Conner Charlie Hunter bass+guitar a lot these days and the EQ2 is indispensable for me now, I had it for 3 weeks now and wished I found it sooner. 10 band EQ on each channel. It is fantastic for bass.

Uh oh!

I gotta have one of these for the simple reason that they exist. Frequency, Gain and Q freely adjustable and you can select shelving in both directions if you wish? This might be just what I'm looking for.
