I really like the Tech 21 Q Strip, although I don't like it's large footprint. The high and low pass filters are a nice touch, although you can't control the frequency cutoff, but it's voiced well. I didn't have room on my board for it at the time, but I made room, as I really like it. The Source Audio EQ2 is also a nice pedal

I owned the Q\Strip for a while, but I found it rather uninspiring.
It takes about a minute to dial in a good, perfectly usable sound - but that's about it.
I could not milk any awesome from it.

Strange as I found it to be totally useful and inspiring, and I can get so many different sounds out of it. My friend that recommended it to me simply said: "twist the knobs until it sounds good".

the original Catalinbread Varioboost is excellent for dialing in the perfect clean mid boost for me.

they have released a new version but it's more of a overdrive with a varioboost, but i actually prefer the earlier clean one.

I am killing those on purpose there.
My default sound is quite scooped, it is just Cali76 into reverb into LPF+HPF into Noble.
I usually do have the sonic space to get away with the scooped sound and all that works very well, both when rehearsing and playing live.

What I'm looking for is the pedal that can bring back the scooped mids when I need them.

@Charlie Tuna gave me a bit of a tour around the knobs of the Ictineo, which led me to a different approach.
I think I found what I was looking for now, but will have to confirm that in a real band mix later this week.

Right now, I have a love/hate relationship with a Southampton Ictineo.
I simply am unable to grasp what the controls do and often end up just using its ability to bump around 600Hz. My sound is quite scooped and I like the possibility to push some 'P-Bass Thump' when needed.

Now I'd like to look at other pedals that can give me that. Suggestions?

The Darkglass Harmonic Booster has some serious mid adjusting capabilities.

This is a later Varioboost. The original had notches for different frequencies, like a Gibson Varitone circuit in a pedal. Still, Varioboost is a nice idea. Good call.

OP, you might also try the Aria PE-10.

My search in this has ended, I found my personal holy grail in the Broughton RFE pedal. It replaced my HPF/LPF.
I get a mid bump that feels and sounds so natural that I have it always on.

That was the SineEffect microPara, 1 band fully-parametric EQ

A tip that might be of use in a similar situation : even when the image appears broken, you can still look at the URL (right click => copy image link) and sometimes guess what was on the other side.
