Looking for a pedal

hey.

i play in a rock and roll band and have limited knowledge on bass distortion. i've always just stuck with the clean sound, but now i want to get a little dirtier.
I am looking for a warm sound. like a more organic distortion if that makes any sense.

if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Distortion or Overdrive? For overdrive, I would recommend the Fulltone BassDrive. For distortion, I hear the Tubescreamer is pretty good, but I think you might have to mod it. For future questions, search before you ask.

If you do a search for overdrive pedals or fuzz pedals you will find so much info you will never be able to decide. There's a lot of options for what you're looking for and there is no "best" just one you'll like more than others.
Trial and error my friend.

I'd suggest borrowing everything you can from the guitar players you know and trying them out (in a band setting) This is a free way to find out what you might or might not like. If you like what you hear, buy one. If one of them is close but not quite what you're wanting to hear, tell us what it was, how you had everything set up, and what you'd want to be different then we'll be able to make some suggestions.
