I think his idea of "growl" is the upper mid/treble thing you get from round wounds. That's why I pointed out that isn't what I call growl. The mudbucker is grunty/growly.

He wants less round would ringing. That's why i said change the string type.

Try new strings first and leave all the rest of the stuff alone. Only change one thing at a time.

Between the strings and amp settings you should be able to kill growl at will IMO/IME
