I guess many people use some apps to help with organising your musical practice... I am looking for something quite simple, but whenever I search the web I get lists of apps that are way too specific on schedules and exercises, which is not what I need, so I'd like to hear any suggestions from you folks. Let me try to explain what I wish for...
First, I cannot afford to have a schedule. I have very irregular family duties (work or kids events are different each week) therefore I can never plan to spend X hours on e.g. every Tuesday practicing bass, which is what many practicing apps force you to define. I just practice whenever some free time comes up.
So instead of scheduling, I would benefit from an app where I could enter which day I have practiced something, and the app would show a list of "open items" (practicing topics) with an indication of how long since last time I practiced each. Even better if it had notifications or daily reminders for items I haven't practiced for too long.
The app doesn't even need to be music-specific, generic is fine.
The idea is inspired by another app I am already using for keeping track of house chores: it has "rooms" and in each of them you can make a list of chores and define how often you think you should do them, e.g. "Bedroom": vacuum (3 days), change linen (7 days); "Kitchen": take out trash (1 day), organize shelves (30 days), etc. Each morning it tells me what is due or past due, and shows how much I am late with each.
Now my best option is to use that chores app and define extra "rooms" for bass technique, music theory, repertoire
I think it will actually work but I am already using it for chores and it would be seriously messy with both things at once. And of course an app that is actually music oriented would have useful stuff already defined... any recommendations?
