Looking for an HPF

Yeah, the HPF is subtle but noticeable. Fixed at 40hz I believe. Tightens up the sound nicely.

Yeah 45hz according to the doc. But I don't know. Its subtle and the hpf is fixed. Subtle unless you go buck wild with the lpf, low eq and the level knob. Level is +/- 20 db- which is substantial. You can kind of mess with the filter slope in cab sim.

I just use my ears. It's very much like an SSL or Neve style EQ. Even the design language and EQ points are similar to certain consoles.

Even though FDeck says they aren't meant for speaker protection, I still think it would help than not.

I mostly use mine for upright anyway for feedback reasons.

That's why I got the FDeck series 3. Francis is a straight talker. Been using mine in the FX loop but might try it in front of my multi-effects pedal just to see how that works.

What I consider an ideal solution is a combination of two filters - a static one and variable one...like on Broughton HPF-DI or Fdeck version 3.

One can always stack two 12dB/per oct filters one after another for a 24dB slope. I have the Broughton High Pass and the Empress Para Deluxe II.

This works really well for me -- Broughton HPF/LPF at the start of the chain, HPF on my Genzler Magellan Pre at the end (total 30 dB/per octave slope in this case). They can both be set at a somewhat lower frequency than I would have either alone, and coupled with a bass boost from the Magellan (shelving from 75 Hz) provides a lot of useful bass without mud/boom/speaker damage. As fdeck points out, you still need to watch the volume ...
 
I usually don't use pedals, so I have an Fdeck Mk1 in the fx loop. Battery powered with a couple hundred hours of batt life, don't have to run power to it. When I use pedals I have a Broughton H/LPF at the end, using the LPF to manage my Piezos.

I do that with the Broughton HPF/LPF also. Because with just a "tweeter level" control you can change just the volume of whatever tone your tweeter is giving you, and some aren't very sweet sounding. When I can shave the top-end off of it instead of just turning the whole thing down (or mostly off) I can often get a tweeter to do something I like.

Well I guess I'm looking at the Sine Effect C24 or the Broughton Low + High. Not sure how steep I really need that slope to be. But I thought it might be nice to be able to control the gain there. And a LPF isn't a bad thing to have.

Mine are either on/off. With LPF I can get the best out of them.

Yes indeed. My old (Italian) Markbass 102P kickback sounds fine with the tweeter, but my 121P tweeter sounds very jangly, so it lived it's whole life (recently deceased) with a 3x3 square of black gaff tape over it. ...No adjustment or on/off available on either. I don't know why they sounded so different, maybe different drivers.

My GK 412 Neo has a tweeter and is biamped with a RB700-II so plenty of clean power and easy adjustment, but it's still a tweet that's a little harsh for my liking. With the LPF I can shave off the top end off the tweet and it then IMO becomes pretty useful to the overall sound of the cabinet. (...sidebar: House gets a clean signal from a JDI, sourced before the filters, that's just what I do).

I was going to say that one benefit of the Broughton Low + High is the gain control. And that LPF can definitely be useful at times, even if you're buying the pedal for the HPF.
