Looking for Bass 5 string with narrow spacing

I once read an article that described Ibanez offerings as "pencil-necked groovers". That would be a start. Not sure what your budget is but a Millennium 5 would be within anybody's reach. Thin comfortable neck, narrow spacing, US made, and top-shelf hardware unlike some of the chintzy stuff I'm seeing on the imports. Here's an example:
