I use sm57 and now setting up by rope attaching to the DB's bridge. Take time 3-5 minutes

What kind of the clip on accessories attach to SM57 that best fit for DB's bridge ?

In the market have many clip on for snare drum. It can be apply for bridge ?

    Or any others advice ....

    Thank you very much

  2. The SM57 is too heavy to be mounted at the bridge. I think there is the cheap rubber band method through the underlength discussed elsewhere on talkbass or the H-clamp that should be able to handle the SM57, could be positioned to different points on the top, but costs probably more than your SM57.

Or you might try a cheap little condenser mic that might be able to be clipped to the bridge adjusters or might be put into the f-hole with some foam (doesn't always work).

A really good mic gets a lot more expensive.

Just wrap it in foam and put it between the bridge feet. When I get to a computer where I've got the pic saved, I'll post it.

  4. Yes, I forgot this one. Put foam around it and let the head stick out a little bit. Then either stick it between the bridge feet or under the tailpiece. So you have at least two positions to check out for better sound. BTW, a small towel might work too for the wrapping.

Here's the foam-in-the-bridge trick on Lynn Seaton's bass.

Love that clip! Hate the way that mess of foam in the bridge looks, it's plain old fugly. :) Seaton's regular Shure mic had a capsule that allowed him to point the mic directly at the top, some kind of L shaped of variation of the 57 that was available for awhile. And the foam was covered by his wife in the finest of poly leopard velvet. Putting the mic through the after lengths supported by a block of foam on the top will get you there as well. And these days XLR's with right angle connectors are easy to find.

I could be wrong, but I think that L-shaped 57 was an aftermarket mod that someone was building and selling. I think Ronan Chris Murphy had used one on his show. Dang, I gotta go check now...

I think you can put a 57 capsule in an L shaped 56 body.

OK well I just checked out Ronan's site - it's way longer than how I remembered, so not sure if that would work under the bridge. Could be useful in other spots though.
It's showcased in the first video at www.ronansrecordingshow.com

Disregard this thought. I checked out a Beta 56 today with the intention of renting one and it's really heavy. I certainly wouldn't use it on an H-clamp or hang it off the afterlength. I did rent a 57 though and cutting at least 2" out of the body is totally doable which would make it a lot more practical being shorter and better balanced in the clip. I'd want a preamp with more gain than my D-Tar Solstice though as it's not nearly as loud as my PR40, ATM350 or AT826.

This is the aftermarket L-shaped 57 body. http://www.granelliaudiolabs.com/ Looks really good. With their conversion kit you could easily mod a stock 57 and shorten the barrel or machine a new one.

Look at an Audix D4. Sounds good, 4" long; works great in an H-Clamp.
