Hope this is OK here in GI, could go to Misc I guess since it's not bass? Does anyone care?

So I'm looking for a book / video / course to start "filling in the gaps" (there are plenty) in my guitar playing and finally "getting good" as a guitarist after 50 years of only half-assed trying. I'd call myself "advanced intermediate", at least in styles & keys I'm comfortable in. Decent general theory background, a little thin on application to guitar (especially thin on jazz theory and extended harmonies).

What say you? Anyone care to nominate anything? I'm hoping for something that covers the basics too, but in a way I can move through quickly until I hit the new stuff.

Some guitar books I got a lot out of

I think Rick Beato breaks things down quite well

Jens Larsen is also quite good

I'm a firm believer in speaking with instructors so both sides know what you are looking to accomplish.
Yeah, that's always my problem - how / where to focus - because by nature, "what I'm looking to accomplish" is basically everything, I'm not so good at prioritizing and picking and choosing a plan of attack. So easily distracted by whatever musical thought hits me next...

Explain your situation, you've been playing for a long time, feel you are pretty good (offer to play for a minute so they see where you are). Sounds like you primary goal is to find ways to deeper your knowledge of jazz 5heory so you can move to more complex songs and be able to play with better musicians.
