Spector Tonepump = Boost/Cut!

I was told in another thread that the Tonepump circuit is actually boost/cut, not boost only as advertised. I contact PJ @ Spector about this and he gave me the following specs:

"Basic gain +12dB

Controls:
Bass: +14dB/-4dB @55Hz
Treble: +14dB/-12dB @6.5kHz

this info will be live on our new site in the Tech Section very soon!"

Meaning that to run the tonepump flat, you have to open the bass pot just shy of 1/4 of the way, and the treble just shy of 1/2 way.

As a side note, the new Spector website looks way better than the old one.

This is supposedly the new accurate info on the Tone Pump relayed from someone who knew the manufacturer. Apparently Spector never had the proper info on this pre originally.

AFAIK they`ve always been boost only. Maybe there`s a newer version that boost and cut.

Yes and No. They were advertised as "flat" being both knobs as "boosted slightly". But this new, supposedly accurate info from the horse's mouth blows that whole scenario also.

I am SO not impressed with spector. Completely rediculous and they still haven't updated the webpage. VERY frustrating.

If there's no center detent to tell you where 0 is (middle position or flat) , and full counter clock wise is -4 DB. Then wouldn't you consider it boost only? I think it always boosted and cut just the Pot had no center detent like most do. They tricked you! !!!
