i apologize if this has been beat into the ground. i did do quite a bit of searching on the forum before deciding to post a new thread.
i have recently acquired a fender cij jazz bass. as far as i know, the electronics are all stock. im not sure of the year or specific model of jazz, it may be a reissue of some sort. the bass has an aftermarket neck and i havent looked in the neck pocket.
my current rig is a fender mia std precision v - pedals - carvin r600 - bag end 1x18
with that set up i get , loud, thunderous bass tone. i love it.
with the jazz bass, i also get great tone, but with remarkably less output.
now, i understand the differences between a jazz and a p bass. im not looking for the jazz to sound like the p. i just need the jazz to get close in output to my p so i can use either bass without having to completely change my amp settings.
what i need from my jazz is more output, and punch, but the tone i get is fine. i want to have the jazz tone, as a different flavor in my bass arsenal.
ideas on what pickups/electronics to try?
ive been interested in emg's, but im open to anything passive or active.
