Gretsch did something similar years ago. They had a soft foam pad that sat below the strings near the bridge. Then you throw a switch on the body and it raises up to mute the strings.

IIRC from reading an old Guitar Player mag, Frank Zappa had piezos installed on his guitar at various locations including the nut.

I actually have the perfect project idea for you, and preliminary testing looks promising.
Have been working on this for a few years, so I think $45,000 is fair right now.
If the tests scheduled for June 2011 are successful, the price jumps to $250,000.

Oh, i've got plenty of ideas, but the only ones that are free are the ones that I believe are impossible.

If i'm wrong and he actually makes an ABG that competes with a marshal stack i'll happily wear the egg on my face as I write the check for my new ABG order.
