I'd think a graphite neck with a chambered wooden body design that would have a pickup inside the chamber to offer an acoustic sound that could be blended with the a pickup placed below the strings. ..... What pickup and where would it be placed would have to be decided by trial and error. ....... Just a thought.

Been done. Kind of.

I have a million ideas, I will PM them all to you...feel free to use them to make as much money as you are able...:D:D:D

Every thing's been done, or kind of? ..... The vid show a guitar with the emptied chamber with a mic installed and it sounded like a very well mic'd classical guitar. ..... Still would like to hear what it can be done with a bass.

That same builder builds basses with exactly the same design. Completely composite, completely hollow, with your choice of magnetic, piezo, and microphone pickups.

ok, actually this is my idea that I keep under the bed for a long time...

I always wanted to have a 2 in 1 bridge saddles.
remember jaguar (or jazzmaster?) that has dampeners on the saddles, so the sound is like muted strings?
my concept is like this: you make saddles with dampener installed underneath, and with a flick of a switch, the metal part of those saddles will go lower and the dampeners go up.
so you can go from electric bass sound to acoustic bass sound.

if you can make it, congrats.
I wanna give it a try but am too busy with my multiscale guitar tremolo:hiding:
if you can make it, you can give me at least 5 sets of those bridges and I'll be happy:hyper:

dunno if anybody tried it before, but if nobody tried it before that means this is my original idea.
eventhough somebody will make a copyright for it, at least people on this board know that's my idea;)

I think "never been done" when referring to musical instruments might be an unreasonable expectation for 1 young man with a limited budget, assuming it has to be a usefull intrument

If it were me, I'd look into an original body shape, recycled materials, your own tuning system mounted either on or in the body, and experiment with pups; good luck and please report back with progress
