Looking for MIDI solution: Two ins to one out

It's not really my business, but this seems like an unneeded, complicated and convoluted way to patch things together. Is there any reason why you can't just use the USB connectivity on the Integra instead?

I'm out of USB ports. And I generally get more problems than solutions from connecting stuff to my computer.

It’s lame that your DAW software can’t (or isn’t set up to) merge the MIDI output of the controller with the sequenced track. If it didn’t work “out of the box” like that, you should try tweaking the setup to put the sequence and the controller on different MIDI output channels, and putting the synth in “Omni” mode, for example.

If the software and synth are just too dumb to handle two streams, the little MIDI Solutions boxes do work pretty well. I have had their Quad Merge on my DAW for years, for a different problem (more controllers than input ports).

Ah, okay, that's interesting. The Integra is susceptible to hanging notes. You know what, before I order any boxes, I'm going to try hooking the module up to USB and see what happens.

I want to connect both of those outputs to the single input on my Integra 7 so that it can be controlled by either device without swapping cables.

You don't need an external box IMO. Just plug the Integra into your computer with USB cable and your keyboard to Integra midi in.
If you need additional usb port, then buy a usb hub. You might want an active usb hub if you need to power many devices from usb.

Lol, so I took the advice of plugging into USB. It solved the problem, the Integra shows up as a midi device in Reason, and I can leave my keyboard cabled into the MIDI in on the back of the module. I think I probably forgot to mention in the OP that my dummy mind is stuck in 1996.

Stuff like this is why I bought a blokas midi hub when it was on sale, even though I had no need for it at the time. Since then I have used it for multiple configurations. It’s worth the small investment.

down the road if your setup changes that midihib will bail you out.
