One important thing - many bassists are moving to lighter cabs and heads (for instance, I went from a setup that was about 160 pounds to one that is under 50), so if you don't mind doing some lifting, you can get some killer deals.

My friend hasn't mentioned any problems with his pf500 head he's selling he. He just got some vintage tube head I think. So that's why he's selling it. I'm on a bit of a budget. That's why I pretty much jumped on his ampeg head. I'm a young guy. I don't mind hauling around some hefty gear. Except for maybe an 810. I don't think I'd be able to transport that at this current time.

My rig does me well in my metal band with 2 guitarists using half stacks and was only around $400 used for everything.

After a long day, I finally made the journey to pick up a cab I found on Craigslist. A little beat up, but that's no big deal. $250 for an ampeg svt-410hlf.

Also, talked to my friend selling me his ampeg head. He said he's had it two years and it works well. He said he also fixed the mosfet transistor (honestly I have no idea what that even is.

Since I still don't have my bass head, they guy said he'd refund me if something didn't work on it. But even at $250, I could just pay for it to be fixed. No big deal at the price I got it.
