looking for new 5-string

I'm currently in the process of looking for a new PASSIVE 5-String. I primarily play fenders, but i haven't been able to sit down with one of the american standard 5's yet but i was leaning that way. does anyone have info on the Fender American Standard 5's (P or J-bass). Open to other companies and models too, just as long as they are passive.

I've been playing my '08' MIA Fender Jazz V since I bought it new in May of '08', it's my main bass. It sounds awesome and fits into the mix when all my other basses don't. It's deep, powerful, punchy, articulate - you name it, it covers it well. My bandmates whom some I've played with for over 30 yrs say it's the best sounding bass I've ever owned. Of coarse, this has to do with my rig, playing with my fingers, not a pick. Alot of things go into why this bass sounds so good.

There's always the Lakland passive lines (bob glaub, Joe Osborne, Darryl Jones). They are pretty awesome, and the skylines are comparably priced to the Fenders.

If you want something totally different the Dingwall Afterburners come in a passive configuration. I play one and love it.

Lakland is coming out with some limited edition Bob Glaub 5 (Pbasses).
