Looking for pedal for slap funk

Hi guys first thread here. Been playing off and on for 16 years. As thread states I'm looking for a disco type sound. Would you recommend any other pedal to run before the funk pedal? Thanks John

The disco sound is usually clean with compression. What do you mean by funk pedal? Envelope filter?

A very low gain overdrive, set with just a tiny bit of drive, will give you more harmics so the filter's motion stands out more, but won't sound distorted or too synthy like it might if you used fuzz. Run the OD before the EF.

+1 add a compressor after to tame spikes and fatten the slap tone. Adding it before would dull the attack of the od and filter.

MXR M-82. Love mine. I've tried a ton of them, but this one is crazy bang for the buck.
I just picked up a Aguilar Agro pedal - and together it's Bootzilla magic.

Either one may do the trick but putting the compressor before the envelope filter would lessen the effect of it. So do both! Od before and/or put the compressor after.

Might I suggest the Creation Audio Funkulator? They make great products (although I have no experience with this particular pedal). I think just having one on your board may instantly make you more funky.
