I have myself a Franken P with alder body rosewood fretboard, and an CS62 Fender precision pickup. To differentiate it from my two other Precisions with flats and Elixir, I want something that’s all about a nice broken in roundwound sound. I want something that breaks in after a few weeks and then keeps that broken in sound for a very long time. I’d like something with lots of low mids that’ll make the bass growl but without losing clarity, so as to not get lost in the mix.

DR pure blues comes to mind along with EB cobalt flats.
Pressure wounds do that trick nicely also.

I have Squier MFP + Model P + Cobalt flat 2814 ..... huge aggressive tone , but growl ????
Try listen this (neck pickup solo ), is it the kind of growl you looking for ?
To me., growl has some top end , like Jazz bass.
Seem you need a try with Model P .
For growl it's hard to go wrong with Rotosound. I find that the Roto Bass or PSD Bass (if you could find them in stock) strings keep the growl for longer than regular Swing Bass.
+1 on pure blues, IMHO. In any case, DR has media files of all their bass strings, makes it easy to compare them, and for you to see if one fits your specific needs.
If your pickup can't reproduce it with its placement and quality then no string is going to give you the sound you want.
That’s certainly true, but the OP’s CS62 should be able to perform.

I love GHS Bassics for this exact reason. They have hex core and nickle plated steel. On my Yamahas, one set is over one year old, another one is two months old. Both of them sound growly and keep their ground in the mix with two guitars. My preference is Medium set (044-106)
My string of choice is Rotosound SM66N. Nickels, so not so 'in yer face' as the steels. But they are not broken-in sounding from day 1, but day 4 maybe. But they can growl a bit. I started using them about 30 years ago when Dean Markley Blue Steels started to be harder to get and while I've strayed from the true path (including TI Jazz rounds), I keep coming back to the SM66Ns, 100 to 40. The RB40 and RB35 are fairly similar and a bit cheaper/skinnier if that is what you prefer. You get more growl from RB35s than TI JRs.
I’ve went through a few DR sets recently to find my roundwound sound after 15 years playing flats. DR Nickel Low Riders for the win. Sunbeams if you like roundcore
