Looking for some versatile distortion

Can I hijack this thread for my own fuzz/distortion needs? I try not to create new threads if possible.

I'm looking for a distortion or fuzz, something that can get heeeeavvvyyy but still retain some clarity. And low end, obviously. The BAT Pharaoh has my attention but I'm not sure what else I should be looking out for. Fuzz seems awesome for getting really heavy and dirty, but I might not want to be balls to the wall every time I click on the pedal. Any ideas for me?

If I should create a new thread so I don't get in the way of the thread creator's power supply hunt just say so.

I'm not quite sure if this would be up your alley, but I picked up a Hardwire TL-2 for cheap and I'm really happy with it. It's basically the Hardwire take on a Metal Zone, it has the semi-parametric hi/low/mid/mid frequency as well as two voicing settings, "tight" and "loose." It doesn't have a blend but with the low knob and the loose setting you have tons of low end. It's strictly a high-gain pedal, but it's definitely distortion instead of fuzz.

Have you looked into a fuzzrocious rat king?? It has two drive channels so you can set the first one for mild to pretty hairy then set the second to straight doom. When you want hairy OD, stomp the first switch, when you want doom, stomp on the second switch.

I bought the SC2 and the CM2, luckily I found a used SC2 here and so far it's awesome. I'm using it to give a very soft distortion, almost like a fuzz.

The CM2 is on it's way from USA, I expect to recieve it in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to hear the sound using these two pedals.

So, this leave me with another question: What power supply should I buy? I have the 1 Spot and the Godlyke Power-All as options so far, since I doubt I'll be using more than 5 effects in the future...

You should be fine with a 1spot. Just get a daisy chain for it. They make ones that come in 5 and 8. I use three 1spots to power 18 pedals. Works great!

Have you looked into a smallsound/bigsound TAFM.. it is technically a fuzz but probably the most versatile on the market. Can get really hairy or not so much. And the clean blend is a life saver too.

From what I heard, I liked the EBS Multidrive a lot more than the metaldrive. Made me considering getting an OD instead of a distortion or fuzz. But too many people on here have reported problems with their EBS pedals, and also a friend of mine had one that died on him, so I'm probably going to stay away from EBS.

Man I really really want to try a providence stampede DT.

I own an ebs metaldrive and I had no problem with it what so ever. I recently did a comparison with my digitech bass driver and my ebs metal drive while playing through my fender rumble 150 bass combo. they both sound pretty cool. the only noticeable difference is that the digitech bass driver has more warmth while the ebs metaldrive has more clarity. I originally wanted to buy a digitech hardwire sc-2 valve distortion, but apparently they were out of stock. so I ended up saving my money on the ebs metaldrive and I have no regrets buying it. I do like how this pedal sounds. both distortion pedals are real keepers. not to mention that they sounded pretty cool with my danelectro cool cat cc-1 chorus pedal.
