Looking for some versatile distortion

Just a little update:
I bought the SC2 and the CM2, luckily I found a used SC2 here and so far it's awesome. I'm using it to give a very soft distortion, almost like a fuzz.

The CM2 is on it's way from USA, I expect to recieve it in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to hear the sound using these two pedals.

So, this leave me with another question: What power supply should I buy? I have the 1 Spot and the Godlyke Power-All as options so far, since I doubt I'll be using more than 5 effects in the future...

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for a distortion pedal for my rig but I'm pretty much confused about which one.

I don't really have much experience with distortions as I used to have a Zoom G1 multieffect which I sold and bought a Ibanez PD7. But that was a long time ago.

Currently I own an old Ibanez SR496 bass and a Warwick sweet 15.2 combo amp, mostly I play thrash, grunge and progressive metal so I'm searching for something versatile so I can have like a little boost and some heavier sound when I need it.

I really liked the phathed sound so I'm looking for something similar

Unfortunately, I'm from Chile so I'm pretty much restricted to the local options but I can look in ebay if it's necessary. I'm willing to pay up to 100USD

Finally, please forgive my poor English and syntax. :D

Maybe check out the hardwire CM2. It's a great dist, more of an aggressive OD. I'm saving mine for my second board. That and a marshal guv'nor plus, the GV2. Now that one can get mild OD to straight hairy. Plus, low end retention is huge on it. It has a "four band EQ" on it. You can also try the boss ODB3, it has great low end retention as well and it does great bassy, beefy, really rippin OD to really buzzy almost fuzz tones. IMO, these are three really good OD's in your price range. There are quite a many more but these are a few I've had/have and used. With good success might I add. I also use a fulltone OCD and I LOVE that pedal. The low end retention isn't the best but that thing songs IMO. It's got one of the tastiest flavors of a lot of pedals. Just my opinion. Again, do some research, look and search. Hopefully you'll get some more suggestions here. There are plenty out there. Let us know how it turns out for ya!

Thanks to everyone for your replies, I've been searching for the Tech21 vt-bass but I can't find it for less than 160 bucks which is over my budget.

The Hardwire CM2 is a guitar effect? The Digitech site says that so I don't know if that's right or don't.

The boss odb3 seems OK for now as I can't hear it very well in my phone. Any other suggestions?

The CM2 works great for bass. It has a treble and bass control so you won't have any issues with low end retention.

As far as the VT, it's a great pedal. For MY tastes though, I didn't find the drive/gain on it to usable for me and what I was trying to accomplish. It was sort of squashy. But then again, thousands of guys use and recommend it. That was just my exp.

There's also the, I think digitech, bad monkey. That has good low end retention I've heard and has an easy mod lot from what I hear. It's a good starter od bass pedal.

I'll second the hardwire cm2, it is a "guitar" effect but most are... it sounds good and has some eq. And has a TON of gain or level on tap. Gets really loud. Had one for a long time and only sold it to get a tube overdrive.

Hardwire CM-2 is simply impossible to beat FOR THE PRICE. Impossible. They go for $50-ish used, and there's simply nothing out there that can touch it. Mate it with a Hardwire Valve Distortion and you have one of the most versatile setups you can get for $100. The only thing that kicked mine off my board was a $250 Darkglass B3K.

There are some fine pedals mentioned here, not taking anything away from them (especially The Elements) but if price is a concern, look no further than Hardwire pedals.

I knew you'd chime in here bongs, I know how much you, and myself, like and support the CM2. You're right, I agree, for the money, you just can't beat it. I bought mine brand spankin new from prymaxe for $99. I should've waited. I saw one at GC a week later for $50. Still worth the $99 IMO. It's a keeper. I'll probably never get rid of it. It's going on my second board.

That's just the tone I'm looking for. That CM2 and SC2 combo sound amazing. As I said earlier I want a growrlish sound and some powerful heavier sound.

So far I'm considering these options:
CM2+SC2, probably I'll have to buy from ebay both but it's ok. The only big problem would be the shipping and the delivery time.

Boss ODB3, I can buy it in a local store in my country, at around 140USD new (converting from my currency to USD as reference)

I haven't listened to the others pedals but I'll do it
