Looking for that "CHUNG CHUNG" jazz tone, string suggestions?

I play metal, and I'm currently using an Epiphone Thunderbird with the stock pickups and the tone is real flat and bland. I made a post in the "Pickups" section, and from what people were telling me, I should consider replacing my strings first.

Any suggestions on brand? I prefer thicker strings (I currently use Steve Harris Flatwounds 110.95.75.50)
Would some stainless steel strings really change my flat tone enough to the point of replicating:

Any suggestions? I realize this is also amp dependent, so any amp suggestions as well?

The flats will not give you the sharp attack of got the time or Ratt, you need to try a Nickel Roundwound. I would look to SIT powerwounds, or Roto 66's. Juan and Frank both use rounds.

Definitely get some roundwounds, either nickel or steel will get you much closer to the sounds you're looking for; the timbre can vary greatly between brands even when using the same materials, so try a few different sets until you find one that speaks to you.

Aside from Mr. Harris, no one else in the history of bass has gotten flatwounds to sound that bright and punchy
