looking to buy a j bass

im looking to get the fender american j bass as my band plays diff genres of music but one thing is we like to play covers of metal ballads examples being, a tout le mande, metallica ballads. and im not sure the bass will get low enough to power those songs. is there an alternative bass that will get me the range of sound i need or will i probably have to purchase a P later on??

et tout le monde, but i get your drift

The jazz won't work for either one. Not pointy enough and doesn't contain odd pickups that if anyone else stuck in they would be accused of ruininga perfectly good bass for no good reason.

Get a P with a J pup at the bridge and then file the horns to nasty points. Cut a V into the back with a jigsaw and you will be finished. That is metal, that is all.
