Im looking to get a 70's jazz bass (my main bass is a 96 mia jazz) and am not sure how to go about the process.I wonder if anyone can give me advice about buying on the internet. Would anyone buy a bass for that kind of dough ( im looking at around 2000-2500) without trying it first?). Ive played a few that belonged to local players and loved them (but they are not for sale).
I dont slap ( straight jazz) and love the sound and feel of the worn old necks and well used pups. I have a roadworn jazz also but that still has not scratched my itch.
Also, since my knowledge of vintage basses is limited I go by the usual 1. feel 2. sound and 3. look.
Ive seen a few on the classifieds from time to time over the last few years but have been hesitant to pull the trigger since Ive never played them.
Dream bass would be a vintage white with block and rosewood but not sure if I can get 1 in my range.
Any one have any experience they would care to share on getting a vintage 70's fender jazz and their experiences.
Thank you fellow TB'ers.
