Looks or Sound

Tone. Price. Playability.

Those are my top three, there's obviously a balance between those, as I've lusted after many basses, but typically have chosen those at a price point I could swing.

Truth be told, I'm not really into the asymmetric body of the jazz bass, or the free form lava lamp globules of a Warwick I own. If I was going on looks I'd own one of those Rickenbackers I've tried to love playing, but still haven't been able to get past the ergonomics.
