Looper or DI/Pre/Distortion pedal last in chain?

Heyo!

So I'm aware that normally, loopers go at the end of your chain, does this still apply when using a DI/pre/distortion? (Darkglass Alpha/Omega) From what I've seen/heard loopers belong at the end of you chain so they capture everything you'd want looped, but I've also heard DI/pre goes at the end of the chain also. Help a gear noob!! (my goal is to go direct to house live while still maintaining use of the looper of course.)

Are you running to a PA, and if so how are you going to get your looped signal there if not from your DI.

Depends on your live or recording setup goals. How and when are you using the looper and preamp/DI?

edit: I just read your goals are to have looper go to front of house. So DI has to go after looper. Unless you use a house DI box from the venue/sound guy.

Yes to a PA. I plan to use the preamp (distortion on the unit mainly) and looper for most tracks, I build a foundation with the looper and do more complex secondary lines/vocals over it. Essentially my guitarist and I are trying to eliminate the need for more members while being able to do as much as possible as one person lol.

Depending on the answer to this, I'd use the amp's DI out and the preamp's DI out (if possible) and if not, pick up a passive DI to run after the looper and run parallel out of the preamp and passive DI.

No amp. I run my board direct into my 115 powered pa at practice, into my interface/monitors at home, and direct live. Or that's the want! Trying to ditch rigs as well as staying away from full on rig/cab sims. I like my bass tone with this pre/di. Don't care to add much more into the mix.

Tbh, as someone who is hopelessly uncoordinated and spooks easily at the littlest setback onstage, I'm just fascinated by people who can successfully use a looper live.

Honestly, I play psychedelic stoner rock/doom. Thankfully the parts that are looped are usually pretty simple. If I had to use one live for my old death metal project for any reason, I can see anxiety setting in pretty fast

both ways possible, if you want to dub a clean take on over a distorted take or the way around, you need looper after the distortion

if you're okay that all your takes will be clean or distorted with a flick of the switch (and you won't be able to combine both), run looper first

Where your looper goes depends on what you want your loops to be. Do you need each loop recorded with a particular tone (i.e., a clean part and a distorted part)? Then the looper needs to be at the end of the chain.

Playing back all the loop parts through a distortion at the same time seems not desired.
