Looping Pedal for Bass??

Welcome to Talkbass!

I think there are a few threads on loopers, you could try searching "looper" or "phrase sampler" and find some good info.

I currently have G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) for a Boomerang III. I had a Boomerang+ for a while and really dug it, but it was big and on the noisy side. The new 'Rang is a much more manageable size and I've heard they've fixed the noise issue. It seems a little intimidating at first, but just by watching a couple demo videos, I get the feeling it's actually quite user friendly.

After going looperless (it's a word NOW! Lol) for a while, I picked up a Boss RC-2. While it's a very pedalboard friendly size, I quickly found that it didn't have enough controls for my taste.

The Digitech Jamman looks good, never used it though. I did see an acapella vocalist/beat boxer use one and he rocked it!

That's all I've got for personal experience. :)

Roland just released the press for two new (upgrades of current versions actually) loopers that they've created. No mention of RC-50 upgrade though.

I've had a 'Rang + for about 5 years now. It's good but it is noisy and lacks the control that I want. I've been looking at the RC-50 for some time now and think I'll be pulling the trigger on one of them soon.

digitech jamman.

I use one and it works as a looper should.
It has some features I don't think you need but it allows you to save and export/import.
THAT was a big deal to me.

I have the original but would love the new stereo version.. should have waited.

Roland just announced the RC-30 at NAMM. I was going to buy a looper but am waiting for the RC-30 to hit the store shelf.

99 phrases can be saved, each with two stereo tracks. 3 hours of recording time. Looks very impressive. It should sell under $300.

thanks for the welcome i actualy didnt know there was a search bar.... and im look at diffrent effects but thanks for your wealth of knolage

So NOW it does what the jamman could do over a year ago (minus the stereo). And for more money. :smug:

The Digitech isn't a multitrack looper. The RC-30 is. While two tracks isn't a huge amount, it's still enough to make pieces a lot more interesting than playing over a single looped part.

Yeah, that's why I'm waiting for the RC-3 or RC-30. What I'll do is to import a bunch of drum loops to the RC and assign one to track 1. Then, I'll have fun with my bass loops on track 2.

Save up and buy an RC-50. Totally worth it.
I found I used one via craigslist for $300 in excellent condition. I also use it as a sampler, because you can record about anything into it aside from 3 separate stereo or mono phases and 99 separate patches.

Seriously. Best music investment next to the bass, amp and power; Especially if you write.

Edit: also, using the undo/redo button you can loop even more in a live setting

The RC-3 is still a single track looper from what I've read.
