Loose Knob, Help!

The tone knob on my slammer chapparal 4 string has come loose, its a little wobbly and it turns past the max/min points. I removed the pickguard and it seems as though the mechanism has come off of its set position, and as such turns around with the movement of the knob. Anyone know how to fix this?

By "mechanism" you mean "potentiometer"?

and to fix you just tighten the nuts to hold it in place.

So in fact the knob isn't loose at all, is it?
