lost by us post office

If you haven't already done so I would suggest contacting the Post Office from where you sent it for advice. It is possible that the bass has simply not arrived yet. Parcel post isn't the fastest method of shipping and can sometimes take weeks.

The usps number is a delivery confirmation number. It is not intended as tracking. It is intended as proof the item was delivered.
If you call the usps, especially your local branch if you know them, they can take that number and see if it was addressed correctly. Their software is better than what is on the web. Parcel post travels from station to station only when there is room. It moves in short chunks. And basses are big and frequently don't make the cut.
But, the good news is that it will probably turn up. I had someone send me a bass from washington state to tennessee and they mis-addressed it to somewhere in NC. It took me over 3 weeks to get it, but it was eventually intercepted and sent my way.
If you have it insured, it should be ok. Of course, there are horror stories about all shipping companies, but if you packed it well, it should be fine.

did anyone of you had experience losing the bass by shipping thru usps standard mail. ive sent the bass to n. carolina from l.a. last march 30th and the buyer havent received the bass i had the tracking no. but it only says that left my post office last march 30 .can anyone help me of some procedure to locate this.

It's actually rare that a parcel ends up lost by USPS. It's usually in the mailstream somewhere. Parcel Post takes the longest to deliver simply because it isn't as high priority as First Class or Priority. If a truck is full of the higher priority mail, the parcel post gets left for the next load. I've known Parcel Post to take up to 3 or 4 weeks to arrive depending upon time of year and volume.

The first thing you want to do is go to the post office where the parcel was accepted and talk to the delivery supervisor or station manager about your dilemma. Unfortunately, there's really no way to track the parcel per se via normal tracking means, but it may be possible to physically look for it down the line.

Contact your PO and get the phone # of your buyer's PO.

Speak to a supervisor there, he/she may be able to locate the package.

Worked for me once. The carrier could'nt lift the box, so she brought it back to her depot, then forgot to tell anyone. The super solved the problem in a jiffy.

USPS Priority Mail is great and lightning fast. Parcel post sucks. Pay the little bit extra for Priority!
