Loud popping noises from amplifier

Just today when I went to turn on my EHX Battalion my amp started making extremely loud popping and buzzing noises. I think I'm safe in assuming that this is not ok, as I have never experienced this before. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

That’s a dead short or frayed wire on your cables I would think. Open all jacks in your chain and look for broken or frayed wire touching the polarity wire (+ touching -, - touching +)

First, do you have a bass connected to the input of the preamp?

Second, does the amp work without noises if the bass is connected directly to the amp, and the preamp is COMPLETELY disconnected from the signal path?

Try a new cable between the preamp and amp. Don't go opening anything at this point. There may in fact be a fault within the preamp itself.
