For sale is a nice old French bass bow by Louis Bazin, ca. 1930. Wonderful professional orchestral bow with a pedigree. Asking price is $5,500.
Weight: 150g
Length of stick, excluding button: 63.5 cm (25 inches)
Playing length of hair: 50.3 cm (19.8 inches)
Ebony frog, nickel-silver mounts, brass 'butterfly' adjuster.

It is stamped "Louis Bazin," and is nearly identical to another Louis Bazin I currently own which is unstamped but certified by JF Raffin. Raffin has seen this bow as well and identified it as his work, but given the stamp, I opted not to purchase the certificate. The bow has been freshly restored as of June 2019 by a well-known restorer in the DC area, who's worked for Tarisio and regularly takes care of Sartorys and better.
It plays magnificently. The weight is no obstacle to any agility or bounce; the sautille is quite measured and easy to control, and spiccato is even easier. It engages the string very easily, even on the beastliest of basses, and draws a huge sound that is both round and clear. The only bows I've tried that beat this one have been one Fetique and the Vigneron I just bought.
The asking price is under what you will find in shops for anything made by Bazin himself, and not all of them are stamped like this one. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a stick that can really make life easier for them!
I am normally located in Maryland, but will be up in New Hampshire until early August 2019. I'm willing to drive around the East Coast, western Penn, and possibly even OH. Shipping would also be possible, though not ideal of course.
