I shared a gig with another bassist, and when he plugged his bass into my amp, he had to turn his volume pot way down to match my volume, even though my volume was all the way up.
I have a Fender Urge bass that I rewired, with DiMarzio Ultra Jazz (neck) and DiMarzio Area J (bridge) pickups. For the tone and volume pots, I used a stacked concentric 250K audio taper pot. His bass is a stock Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet Bass II short scale with humbucking pickups.
What I'm wondering is, is this just the nature of the pickups, or is it my wiring? Should I switch to 500k for the pots? I like the sound I'm getting, but I'm wondering if I can take full advantage of the power of my amp with this bass (if I ever need to play that loud).
