Hey yo. Anyone else around here interested in starting an LTD bass club? I havent had any luck finding one thus far, even though its only been since last night that I started looking. When Im on mobile Im not able to search the forums. My pc is down and Im at the library, even here when I do a search for ltd bass club, nothing comes up. I did a search for ESP bass club, and the threads on that are from 2007. So anyway if anyone is game for this, or if there is already a club thread going that Im not seeing please let me know.

Hey yo thanks Staccato. If I'm supposed to be posting on The Official ESP Club section, I will go there and check it out. Having just returned with much love and respect I don't want to rock the boat. However if its clubo start an official LTD club, I would be much obliged to join. I will leave that up to someone who's been around longer. I would be very gracious to follow your lead.

Very cool, my wife is getting me a 205SM fretless as a late Christmas present! :bassist::hyper:

What strings and gauges are you playing? Those look like flats on there. I plan to put flats on mine, I think they ship with rounds.

Man, good eye!

Those were the strings that came on the bass. I took that pic immediately when I got the bass home. A couple of buddies were anxious to see the bass, so I took it right away. Since then, I've changed the strings to what I use on everything, the Ernie Ball Power Slinkies, which are rounds. 50, 70, 85, 105, 135 gauges.

On fretless basses, I would keep a set of strings as long as they would last until they broke or wouldn't stay in tune (a few years, usually). I had been looking for a fretless for several months and (I thought) I had a set of old, played-on strings set aside for my future fretless. However, I couldn't find those strings when I got the LTD in. Argh! So I had to put a new set on it. It will take a few months to naturally play the sizzle out of them, but that's fine.

I don't mean to imply that the bass sounds bad with the stock electronics. In fact, a couple of guys think I'm crazy for wanting to change them. However, I know what the Nord Big Splits do and I think that will make for a nice fretless tone, both with bridge-only setting and both-pups settings. Plenty of character and definition, but not overly upfront and aggressive, although they can be if the treble is pushed.

It will be a couple of weeks before the change is made. I'll have before and after sound clips of the electronics that I'll post in this thread.

No, not at all. But as odd as this is, I couldn’t get the 135 into the top-loading slot of the LTD’s bridge, which is my preferred way of stringing basses. And just as weird, when I had a Fender American Elite Jazz Five, that same B string would NOT go through the body. I did drill out the hole ever so slightly to get it through (the hole in the bridge plate and the ferrule were large enough, just not the hole in the body). As scary as that sounds, it was no big deal to do. Right after that, I decided that string-through wasn’t worth the trouble. But with the LTD, that’s my only choice, it seems.

Which will be fine.

Spent some more time playing it today. It’s really a quite nice bass.
